Trump's Canada Blow BACKFIRES Spectacularly In International Boycott Consequences

Donald Trump has irreversibly perhaps damaged America's reputation around the world.Our soft power, even just our hard power coming out of this war in Iran, we look weaker than we did before.But one of the indisputable effects has been that a lot of people just don't wanna come here anymore.Take a look.

The country's doing great.Prices are down, gasoline's down, energy's down.Tourism is gonna be way up.Wait till you see the numbers.The tourism is way up.Now Canada, tourism's doing very well.

So you know it's particularly bad for Donald Trump when instead of his normal two weeks, he says six months from now, that's forever.This dude probably thinks he's a 50 -50 chance of himself seeing six months.Now to be fair, that was from 13 months ago.So the six months was seven months ago.So we've had the real numbers for seven months, and things are bad when it comes to tourism.And also the gas prices are not down.

Let's be clear about that.The price of nothing is actually down.All of these numbers are bad, but tourism is not immune to that.So the US had roughly 4 million fewer international visitors last year than the year before.That's a 5 .5 % decline in tourism.Foreign visitor spending also fell by more than $8 billion.

Aside from the collapse, by the way, in travel during the COVID -19 pandemic for good reason.It represents the sharpest annual drop in international tourism in roughly 20 years.Most of this millennia, this is the biggest drop that we've had.And the visitor numbers declined from a number of countries, Germany, India, France, Australia, China, Chile as well.The largest drop though came from Canada, whichfewer Canadians traveling to the US.

And it's not hard to figure out why he keeps picking fights needlessly with Canada, mocking them, attacking their leaders, mocking their businesses, jacking up the tariffs on them.implying that he's going to conquer them and make them the next state.So it's weird that the Canadians wouldn't wanna come.And when you ask potential travelers for why they're not coming, they do cite Donald Trump's rhetoric, specifically the hardline policies when it comes to things like immigration and the political fallout surrounding the war in Iran.There's truly many reasons that a lot of people don't wanna come here anymore, but most of them can be directly tied to Donald Trump.By the way, specifically after he imposed the tariffs on Canada, Visits from Canadians fell by 17 % at that point.

So that's a big drop, specifically from Canada.And we've given him more than enough time to get those numbers turned around.If anything, the trend seems to be worsening.And Keith, what am I supposed to say to these international travelers?You're wrong about us?I don't know, maybe in a cosmic sense, someday you're wrong about us.

But why come here and risk being hassled by ICE or Border Patrol or something when we're trying to wreck your domestic industries and everything?I can't tell them they're wrong to have an issue with us.

No, I mean, why would you go to someone's house if you know that they're gonna just harass and abuse you?Why would you go to someone's house when they've made fun of you repeatedly?It doesn't make sense to me. I mean, good, I'm glad they're voting with their dollars.They don't get to vote in our elections.And our elections, they automatically affect what happens in their countries.And so I'm glad they're voting at least by saying, well, we're not gonna spend money there.

And I don't think Donald Trump's gonna pay attention to it.But my hope is that the rest of us do.Because what happens here does matter across the world.And I wanna be a place again where people feelAmericans used to, it's a complicated country, but I think people used to at least respect the country and had a goodwill towards Americans.I would like that to happen again.

I don't think it's gonna happen with Donald Trump in office.I think we have a lot of work to do.If we want people across the world to respect us again, I think it first starts with getting good people back in office, but I don't blame anyone for not wanting to come.

Yeah, no, I don't.And look, maybe for younger people, it may be strange to think, but for a long time, there was a lot of international goodwill.It was not universal.And by the way, I think more goodwill than we really deserved when you looked into the way we meddled in all these countries and all of that stuff, but it was there.People did look up to America, they respected it.And that's one of the most ironic things about Donald Trump.

You can point to, he'll say gas prices are gonna go down, but they actually go up.And I'm gonna get prices down, but they actually go up, the direct opposite of what he says he's gonna do.But one of the most fundamental is he's always been obsessed with the idea that he's gonna make us respected again.That we're being laughed at under the presidents that didn't tank our reputation.That we were being laughed at under the presidents that didn't tank our tourism.And instead, he's gonna turn that around, and yet he finally gets in And people hate us around the world.

And there was a version of that under George W. Bush as well.People don't like this sort of crap.And it's weird to sell that to MAGA, this idea that will be looked up to once again, when it's so regularly proven to not be true.You'd think at some point it would break through, but so far it hasn't.
