The easiest way is to fly from Bali to Darwin with Garuda, Qantas or Ansett, although it would be cheaper to fly to Darwin from either Ambon or Kupang with Merpati (about $A 150-200).
A possible alternative is a passenger/cargo boat/ship, the Arafura Lily, which is expected to commence a monthly Singapore-Brisbane service in July 1996 targetted at the backpacker market. Ports of call will include
Bali, Darwin and Cairns.
