Places of Interest
Rasdanupradit Mahissara Phakdi Monum.
This monument, 1km (0.6mi) out of the town of Trang on the highway east to Phattalung, commemorates Phaya Rasdanupradit Mahissara Phakdi, the ruler of Trang who introduced rubber plants to Trang Province, then a first in Thailand.
Kaphang Surin
This is a broad lagoon not far from the monument of Phaya Rasdanupradit Mahissara Phakdi.
Khao Chong Park
The park, near the Trang - Phattalung Highway, 20km (13mi) east of the town of Trang, is one of the most beautiful places in the province. There are two streams and two waterfalls, Toan Yai Waterfall and Toan Noi Waterfall.
Pak Meng Beach
This is the best beach of Trang Province, near Sikao, some 30km (19mi) northwest of Trang.
Hai Island
A small island of 480 hectares (1200 acres) in the Andaman Sea, off the shore of Pak Meng Beach, Trang Province, but administratively part of Ko Lanta (Lanta Island) in Krabi Province. Hai Island has a well-preserved natural environment. A boat from Pak Meng takes about 40min to reach Hai Island.
Transportation
Bangkok - Trang
Thai Airways has one daily direct flight from Bangkok to Trang. Though the flights are direct (no change of aircraft) they are not non-stop; there is always a stop-over either at Surat Thani or at Nakhon Si Thammarat. Departure is in the early morning on some days and around noon on others. Because of the stop-overs, travel time is more than 2hrs. The price of a one-way ticket is 2005 Baht.
A train with a stop over at Trang departs from Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong Station daily at 18:30. Arrival at Trang is at 10:10. Fares (excluding charges for rapid, express trains, aircon or sleeper) are 135 Baht for 3rd class, 282 Baht for 2nd class and 597 Baht for 1st class. The rail distance is 845km.

Thai Airways has a daily direct flight from Trang to Bangkok. There is always a stop-over either at Surat Thani or at Nakhon Si Thammarat. Departures are in the mid-morning on some days, in the mid-afternoon on others. Flight time, including stop-over, is more than 2hrs. The price of a one-way ticket is 2005 Baht.
One train daily coming from Kantang and stopping at Trang departs for Bangkok at 14:00. Arrival is at 5:50.
